1. So Struan, tell us a bit about you, when did you begin racing and why?

I’m Struan, Jersey, Channel Islands born living in London for 5 years now. I began racing as a kid, roughly around 9 years old doing various karting. Since then I’ve raced through the British Formula 4 and Japanese Formula 3 ranks. The last two years I’ve been competing in a European based series, a championship called the Blancpain GT Series. Last year I drove for McLaren GT as part of the driver academy. This year I’m racing for Nissan Nismo in the Blancpain Endurance Series. I don’t know why I started to race but I’ve continued to race through my early adult years because I love the satisfaction and pain of doing well and making mistakes in this sport, my character feeds of it and it makes me stronger.

2. What do you enjoy most and least about being an influencer?

Being an influencer is a relatively new experience for me, the bit I most enjoy about being an influencer is getting to meet a variety of interesting people and brands. It’s always moving so it grows you’re network and keeps it fresh. What I least enjoy about being an influencer is difficult to say, I can't give an honest answer! I’m sure something will come up, I’ll let you know.

3. What's a typical day like for Struan Moore?

My days are dependant on what my racing schedule is. When I’m not testing with the team or racing I’ll be training through the week and working on my commercial activities and partnerships. Alongside other interests in business and opportunities. With the occasional visit to my local pub...

4. As a social influencer you probably get approached by many brands wanting to collaborate and gift you products. What has been your favourite collaboration to date?

My favourite collaboration was with Taylor Morris Eyewear and Morgan Motors. This collaboration was the first ever for Taylor Morris. Both brands heritage is British being innovative. This was a really nice classic collaboration that I was proud to be apart of, the frames were designed around the shape of the front of the Morgan 3 Wheeler. In that sense it was a unique campaign which had never been explored before by a car manufacture and a luxury eyewear brand. The whole campaign was announced at Harvey Nichols with me and Lilia Weddell being the faces for this collaboration.

5. What would be your dream brand collaboration?

I’ve always been a big fan of the brand and the gentleman behind it, Paul Smith is the dream collaboration for me. I love the shoes and jackets they create, I’m wearing a pair of Paul Smith shoes as I’m typing this up.

6. Which social platform do you prefer and why?

Purely on the basis of it being so direct and quick to reach users and friends, Instagram. I swear it’s become a reflex when I unlock my phone, I hit Insta. I’m sure I share this predicament with many people.

7. What has been your favourite moment of your career to date?

My break-through win as a youngster in the British Formula 4 Championship. It was my first win at a national level, I was 17 and I was elated. I never knew if I could do it and it happened, since then I’ve believed I have a shot at winning any race.

8. Do you have any tips or advice for those thinking of starting a career in racing?

Just like any industry, surround yourself with people that want you to succeed, that are happy when you succeed. You’ll need lifting up and you’ll need advice from all around you to be the successful. I’ve learnt this as I’ve got more involved in the sport, you need the right people on you’re personal team to open doors and learn from. I love learning from my mistakes even though at the time its difficult to process.

9. What are your plans for the future?

My plans in the near future will be to focus on my current race seat with Nissan Nismo in the Blancpain GT Series. We’ve completed our winter tests, training camp and preparation programme so now we train until next week for round 1 at Monza in Italy. Outside of racing I’m continuing with my current brand partnerships and I’m looking to explore new commercial activity to grow my network as a racing driver and influencer.
